Benefits
As people
are increasingly becoming more aware of the benefits of a healthy
balanced diet, both Middle Eastern and Mediterranean foods have
steadily increased in popularity across the globe. One of the
main components of these diets is none other than olive oil. Its
immediate advantage is not only taste, but also what it provides
in terms of nutritional value. Health specialists and dietitians
have recommended its daily consumption worldwide. Jordan's
Treasure Extra Virgin Olive Oil provides you with these
health benefits time after time.
Energy

important for the production of fats, the energy source
for building cell membranes. In addition to that, |

aids growth and development of human organs and acts as an anti-aging
agent, due to the vitamin E and pro-Vitamin A that it contains.
Fighting
Cholesterol and Arteriosclerosis
Olive oil is an unsaturated fat and accordingly is a healthier
form of fat to ingest. Recent studies have shown that people who
follow the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean diets have lower degrees
of cholesterol than other people on other fattier diets; they
are less likely to develop arteriosclerosis.
Stomach
and Liver
Olive oil is easy to digest. It helps the absorption of fats and
accelerates the secretions of the stomach. It can be used as a
painkiller for upper stomach pains and indigestion. It has a positive
effect on the contractions of the gall bladder. It prevents the
formation of stones, thus assisting the functions of the liver.

helps the growth of blood vessels in the fetus.
Reducing
Oxidative Stress from Passive Smoking
Recent studies have revealed that olive oil greatly reduces oxidative
stress, by being actively protective in the body. Oxidative stress
is usually the result of passive smoking.
Ideal
for Diabetics
The unsaturated fats in olive oil are a great substitute
for other fatty acids, and can play a vital role in the
diet of people with diabetes. |

Olive oil
can easily replace the more harmful saturated fats in a diet,
such as butter, margarine and other oils. If used on a daily basis
in cooking or baking, it immediately improves the balance in a
diet, by making it healthier and lighter.

Olive oil is best consumed
within one to two years of pressing.

Top

olive oil could be made from an average mature tree?
Approximately 2/3 to 4 ½ gallons of oil per tree.
Are the olives picked when they are green?
No, for oil
the best maturity stage for ripe fruit flavor and good keeping

Extra virgin
olive oil must pass a wide range of chemical tests, including
a maximum acidity, in terms of oleic free fatty acid, of not more
than 1 % and a peroxide value of less than 20 meq O2/kg.
In addition, it must be judged defect-free with some olive fruitiness,
determined through a blind sensory evaluation by a trained tasting
panel. Full information on the characteristics of olive oil is
available in this website.
Is extra virgin olive
oil healthier for me than other oils?
Yes. Olive

information may be found at this site under Health Benefits.
What does "COLD
PRESSING" mean ?
There is no
legal requirement as far as the temperature is concerned, nor
is there a method of checking what temperature an oil has been
extracted at. In 2003 an EC regulation will come into force (EC
Reg. No. 1019/2002 of 13/06/2002) that as an optional indication
permits, if proven, the underlining of "cold extracted"
and "cold pressed", respectively for the systems of
continual or traditional extraction that work at a temperature
below 27°C. Please check the process section for full information.
What is "ACIDITY" ?
It is a chemical-physical
parameter connected to the hydrolytic state of the oil that depends
on the way the olive fruit has been harvested, the cultivar (or
type of olive), the degree of ripening and the temperature at
extraction. To find the acidity of all olive oils please check
the characteristic section.
